Congratulations to Julian Bjørgo on successfully defending his Bachelor thesis in Mechanical Engineering at HEPIA, titled “Analyse CFD transsonique d’une capsule d’entrée atmosphérique.” Julian received the highest possible grade, 6/6, and earned the distinction “avec félicitations du jury.”
Julian completed his thesis research at California State University Long Beach under the supervision of Prof. Roberto Putzu and Prof. Ehsan Madadi, with his degree issued by HEPIA. His work focused on developing a regression-based method to estimate the velocity and angle of attack of an atmospheric reentry capsule in a transonic regime. Using OpenFOAM CFD simulations, Julian calibrated a Flush Air Data System probe and evaluated pressure-based reconstruction methods for Mach number and angle of attack. Congratulations, Julian!
